Join the Canadian Virtual National Parachuting Competition in 2026

Fellow skydivers, do you enjoy competing? How about hanging out with your local buddies and doing some fun jumps? Or better yet, competing against skydivers across Canada?  This year, May 15 to October 15, the CSPA is going to be hosting a national virtual competition.

This is the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself, experience what competition feels like, and develop your skills!

What is a virtual competition, you ask?

With Nationals being held every two years—which coincide picking the candidates for the Worlds the following year—there are many skydivers who still would like to train, practice and compete. However, organizing your own competition at your local DZ might not be feasible. With some of the smaller centers having a limited number of jumpers (and lift), CSPA wanted to give skydivers an opportunity to follow the Long Term Athlete Development program (LTAD) Flight Plan stage 4 Train to Train (T2T) and stage 5 Train to Complete (T2C) ‘virtually’ all across Canada.

This idea is very similar to the National Skydiving League (NSL) in the USA, as well as similar approaches that South Africa and France have taken to develop teams in many disciplines. CSPA always wants to support local jumpers and encourage learning and growing while having fun too! This event will allow skydivers to compete in their preferred skill/discipline against other jumpers of the same level across Canada without having to spend money/time on travel. Furthermore, this opportunity offers the chance to be judged by our very own National Judges.

Using official rules and regulations, this will give jumpers a true sense of how they would place and what they could work on as a team or as an individual athlete. CSPA will publish the dive pool (like at a regular competition) and each team/individual will submit their video of that dive and it will be judged nationally. Videos will be judged monthly, creating a leaderboard, so teams can view both their progress and other teams’ progress throughout the season. The event will conclude at the end of the season where teams will be ranked. Eligible disciplines (based on the current PIM 4D categories) can qualify for new Canadian Virtual Competition records.

There will be competitions in:

  • Formation Skydiving: 2way, 3way, 4way, 8way, and 10way Speed
  • Vertical Formation Skydiving: 2way and 4way
  • Canopy Formation: 2way Sequential, 3way Rotations, 4way Sequential, and 4way Rotations
  • Wingsuit Acrobatic & Performance
  • Accuracy & Canopy Piloting (Provided there is a judge available at your DZ)

Purpose

The purpose of this competition is to is to provide an athlete engagement strategy to increase participation at the Canadian National Parachuting Competition following the LTAD model.

Skydivers

You can participate at any dropzone anywhere in the world! All you have to do is hire a videographer with a high-resolution camera and jump the dives that will be released in your desired discipline. Once completed, submit your best jump of your round, to the CSPA by midnight of October 15. Judges will review all videos and the winners will be announced in November. We hope to get A LOT of videos! This event is open to CSPA Registered Participants and we would love to see all levels of CoP holders participate!

Blue Skies!
