Member Insurance

CSPA currently offers $3 Million in Third Party Liability insurance throughout the world when the following conditions are met:

  • Active CSPA member
  • An AIM report is completed within 10 days of the Accident/Incident/Malfunction occurring.
  • Follows the CSPA Basic Safety Rules and Technical Recommendations for the persons CoP level or the equivalent rules set by the National Association the foreign DZ belongs to for the persons FAI equivalent CoP issued by CSPA.*
  • 3rd party insurance outside of Canada is only applicable to Canadian Citizens or to Canadian Permanent Resident** CSPA members. Coverage would be extended to those members that are traveling for leisure or outside of the country for school temporarily on a student Visa; however the coverage excludes those members who are working at a non CSPA drop zone.
  • 3rd party insurance within Canada at CSPA affiliated Drop Zones is available to any member, regardless of nationality as long as the member status is active.

*A foreign rated FAI CoP holder would be required to abide by the same CoP rules and recommendations set for the CSPA FAI recognized equivalent CoP when the person is jumping at a CSPA affiliated DZ in Canada (example: USPA A CoP is equivalent to the FAI's A CoP and thus recognized as being equivalent in status to a CSPA's A CoP with regards to their CSPA insurance rights, the reverse would be true when a CSPA CoP holder is jumping at a USPA DZ). Foreign CoP holder would still need to be an active CSPA member to take advantage of our insurance when in Canada; CSPA holds all rights to recover claims through the national association said foreign jumper may belong to.
**A Permanent Resident in Canada is someone who is not a Canadian citizen but who has been granted permission to live and work in Canada without any time limit on his or her stay. A permanent resident must live in Canada for two years out of every five or risk losing that status by the government. Proof of Canadian citizenship and Canadian residency may be required for incidents occurring outside of Canada resulting in a claim.

Note: this is not a legal document and other factors may be considered to evaluate or determine eligibility for insurance coverage. If unsure please contact the National Office for further advice on how to proceed.
